From Concept to Completion with Systems Engineering

The fundamentals of Systems Engineering trace their roots to the U.S. Air Force following World War II. Since that time, little has changed about what Systems Engineering is, but its application remains elusive to many engineering organizations.

Although my primary focus is Aerospace Engineering, I understand the importance of Systems Engineering as it applies to aerospace projects. I am very familiar with taking requirements from a customer – whether that be internal to an organization or an external entity such as the government – and breaking those requirements down into smaller pieces that can be verified with individual tasks and solutions.

I have worked to take high-level requirements for upgrading existing systems, and develop lower levels of requirements, down to individual hardware/software requirements that can be individually tested and verified. I have taken such lower-level requirements and worked back to verify that the higher-level requirements are being met.

To verify that requirements are being met, I have developed test plans for hardware and software, as well as their integration. I have carried out those test plans, both in hardware-in-the-loop tests and completely simulation-based testing. From the raw data coming out of the tests, I have worked with various scripts and tools to parse the data and analyze them, and using the results of these tests, and others, I have devolped the necessary documentation to demonstrate how the requirements have been met.

My experience with Systems Engineering allows me to develop and implement successful solutions to a wide range of Aerospace Engineering projects. For more information about my Systems Engineering experience, and how it has been applied to aerospace projects, please contact me.
